![]() Michael Gannon Michael Gannon is Distinguished Service Professor Emeritus of History at the University of Florida. The author of seven books and numerous book chapters and scholarly articles, he has specialized in the history of Spanish colonial Florida and the Caribbean. In recognition of his research and writing, King Juan Carlos I of Spain awarded him the decoration Knight Commander of the Order of Isabela la Católica. He is the author of the best-selling Florida: A Short History and the editor of The New History of Florida, the first scholarly general history of the state to be published in the last quarter century. His most recent work, Black May (Harper Collins 1998) is a main selection of the History Book Club and an alternate of the Book-of-the-Month Club. Home |
